General Notes: Husband - Willard Stanton Reader


He attended the public schools of his native town, and was a pupil in Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He entered the office of the Beaver Valley News as an apprentice, and in 1889 was appointed the New Brighton reporter of the paper. September 28, 1892, on his twenty-first birthday, he was admitted to partnership in the business, and then held the position of city editor. In addition to the duties of this position, he wrote for leading papers in Pittsburgh and other cities; served on the Republican county committee, and was secretary of the board of health of his native town. He united with the Methodist church, in January, 1885.

He attended the public schools of New Brighton, Pennsylvania, and Geneva College, Beaver Falls. He entered the office of the Beaver Valley News as an apprentice in 1886, and assumed the duties of reporter in 1888. He was admitted to partnership in the paper September 28, 1892, and thereafter was city editor of the paper, and assisted in its management. He wrote considerably for city papers for some years; was secretary of the Board of Health for some time, and one of the directors of the American Porcelain company for two years. but retired from all outside work to give his undivided attention to the management of the news columns of the paper. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Society Sons of the American Revolution.
