He was one of ten brothers who came to America from Ireland in 1765.

He was a pioneer of Erie County, Pennsylvania, who took up land under the Corporation Act, and was soon after dispossessed by the Indians. He subsequently settled in Mill Creek Township, and passed his later years at Girard.
