General Notes: Husband - Edwin N. Reeves

His father lived and died in New Jersey, and during the war of 1812 he took contracts for getting out timber for building ships on the Delaware.
He passed his early life in New Jersey. For some years he made his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was very active in the Union cause during the Civil war, organizing the famous Bucktail Company, serving as first lieutenant of the Pennsylvania Riflemen of Philadelphia, and also acting as drillmaster. When the war closed he brought his family to Franklin, Venango County, in April, 1865, remaining there the rest of his life. He was engaged in business as a plastering contractor, and followed that line at Franklin for many years with steady success. Both he and his wife as well as his parents were members of the Society of Friends. [HVC 1919, 777]
