Obituaries
Pearl Ziegler, well-known in Cranberry area
Mrs. Pearl Ziegler, 76, well-known resident of Cranberry and wife of Charles W. Ziegler, died at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday in the Franklin Hospital, where she was admitted Aug. 30.
A daughter of Harry and Dora Stroup Rhodes, she was born in Cranberry Township March 10, 1900. She spent her entire life in the Cranberry area, attending public schools there.
An ardent knitter, Mrs. Ziegler did knitting for many people in the area and she also did a lot of sewing for her family and for others.
As long as her health permitted, she was an active member of the Cranberry United Methodist Church and for many years belonged to the C. I. C. Class. She was also a member of the Cranberry Ladies Aid and the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Surviving are her husband, Charles W. Ziegler, whom she married on Feb. 12, 1929, and a daughter, Mrs. Paul R. (Lois Ann) Rice, Franklin RD 2; three grandchildren, Mrs. John J. (Sherry Ann) Barber, Edgewood, Md.; Mark Lee Rice and Betsy Ruth Rice, both of Franklin RD 2; five brothers, Glenn B. Rhodes, Seneca; Donald A. Rhodes, Silver Spring, Md.; Boyd P. Rhodes, Oil City; Paul A. Rhodes, Texas, and Robert E. Rhodes, Seneca; one sister, Mrs. Lester (Martha) Neely, Emlenton, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph C. Rhodes, and a sister, Mrs. Wilbur (Trenna) Dahle.
The body is at the Frank S. Huff Chapel where friends may call any time after 7 p.m. today. Members of the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Huff Chapel at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Alvin H. Rhodes, pastor of the Cranberry United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
