He was an active, energetic and successful business man; was Supervisor of the Census for the eleven northwestern counties of Pennsylvania; was also extensively engaged in the lumber and ice business, and was Superintendent of and a heavy stock-holder in the Conneaut Lake Ice Company.

He received his education at Allegheny College. In 1874 he embarked in the lumber business under the firm name of Richmond & Delamater. In 1879 he was elected to a position as manager of the Conneaut Lake Ice Company. He was City Auditor and member of the City Council; was a member of the I. O. O. F. In 1880 he was appointed Supervisor of Census of the Tenth District of Pennsylvania. In politics Mr. Richmond was a Republican.

He received his education at Allegheny College, and in 1874 embarked in the lumber business with T. A. Delamater, under the firm name of Richmond & Delamater. Later he became interested in the business of the Conneaut Lake Ice Company, and was in 1879 elected manager.
He filled the positions of city auditor and member of the city council. In 1880 he was appointed supervisor of the United States census of the tenth district of Pennsylvania. Mr. Richmond was a Republican in politics, was an active party worker, and for several years filled the position of chairman of the Republican county committee. He was a devoted fisherman, and landed some of the finest fish ever caught in Conneaut Lake.
