He was a graduate of the Greensburg Seminary, a public school teacher for some years, a graduate of Thiel College at Greenville, and of the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Chicago, and an ordained Lutheran minister. He served the congregation at Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, for several years, and was later located at Fargo (North Dakota) mission.
