He came from Germany in the early eighteen-thirties and settled at Old Brighton, in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. He later moved to Morgan County, Ohio, and there he farmed and lived until his death at the age of eighty-six years.
He and his wife were Quakers in their religious belief.
