General Notes: Husband - Ralf C. Vogan


He was educated in the public and high schools of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, Westminster College, from which he received the degree of Bachelor of Science, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical College, where he became a Doctor of Medicine with the class of 1935. He interned at St. John's General Hospital, at Pittsburgh. After thorough preparation he began his career on the staff of the Polk State Institution for the Feeble Minded, in Polk, Pennsylvania. He then returned to his native town of Sandy Lake, and initiated a general practice of his profession. Dr. Vogan built up a lucrative practice and was the only general practitioner in Sandy Lake. He was active in civic affairs and was on the staffs of the Grove City Hospital and the Mercer Cottage Hospital which was owned by his uncle, Dr. D. E. Vogan. Dr. Vogan kept in close touch with colleagues and medical progress by memberships in the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania State Medical Association and the Mercer County Medical Society. He was a Republican in his political allegiance; a member of the Sandy Lake Service Club. His religious affiliations were with the Methodist Episcopal Church.
