He graduated from the William Wells Memorial School in 1918 and from there went to Millersville Teachers College graduating in 1928. He took summer courses at Anville, Colorado, and at Juniata and Elizabethtown, where he received his degrees. He served some years as principal of the Allensville High School, Allensville, Pennsylvania.
