General Notes: Husband - James Edgar Tinstman

He was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he attended the public schools. He was in business connected with foundry work during his active career, and in 1886, when he was sixteen years old, he went to work in the same factory at Scottdale, where he later became resident manager. In 1926, Mr. Tintsman would have completed forty years of service with the one concern, the United States Cast Iron Pipe and Foundry Company, his employment ranging from water boy to resident manager, the highest position in the factory.
A Republican in his political convictions, Mr. Tinstman, with his vote and influence, supports the principles of that party. He was a member of the Scottdale Council beginning in 1912, and its president from 1917. During the period of the first World War, he was foremost in every movement for the cause of the Allied armies, and was active in Liberty Loan and Red Cross work. He was a very active factor in the interests of the Young Men's Christian Association. His religious faith was that of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he was a member. He also was a member of the Scottdale Library Board.
