He left school March 12, 1884, to accept the position of ticket agent of the Pennsylvania R. R. at New Castle, Pennsylvania, and on March 14, 1894, he was appointed agent, although yet a young man. He was a very popular and well-liked young man, and thoroughly conversant with all the details of the business which he managed.
