Montgomery Twp, Franklin Co, PA

His father was the first of the Witherspoon family to settle in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and lived near Chambersburg.

He was, during the greater part of his life, a farmer in Montgomery township, on the West Conococheague, a short distance below Hiester's Mill. He was for twenty-seven years a ruling elder in the Mercersburg Presbyterian Church.
