He graduated at Jefferson College in 1841, and studied theology at Allegheny; was licensed to preach by Big Spring Presbytery May 1, 1844, and ordained by First Ohio Presbytery, July 21, 1847; was pastor of the congregation of Fairhaven, Preble County, Ohio, after his ordination; was Moderator of the General Assembly (U. P.) of 1873; was a Doctor of Divinity.
