General Notes: Husband - George Selden


He studied law with Horace Binney, in Philadelphia, where he was admitted to practice September 4, 1817. About this time he edited a newspaper called The Union. In 1818-19 he removed to Mead-ville, Pennsylvania, as attorney for the Hol-land Company. In 1827 he removed to Pitts-burgh to take charge of the law practice of Richard Biddle, Esq. In 1835 he returned to Meadville, where he resided until his death. He was a vestryman in Christ Protestant Episcopal Church, Meadville, Pennsylvania, in 1825-28, and of Trinity Church of Pittsburgh from 1828 until 1835. He was a man of acknowledged talents, an able lawyer, and bid fair to become one of the foremost members of the bar of his day.
