He resided in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, on a part of the farm purchased by his grandfather, Henry Baugher, in 1800. His political affiliations were with the Democratic party, and he served as supervisor of the township and as school director. He and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal church.
