General Notes: Husband - Adam Shanor

He came to Butler County, Pennsylvania, from Westmoreland County in 1797 or 1798, and settled in Butler Township, but soon moved into what is now Centre Township, purchased the settler’s right of Frank Karns to 165 acres of land, which assignment is acknowledged in the deed given him in 1812, by Stephen Lowrey—consideration, $1.

In 1797, Adam Shaner and his wife came from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to Butler County, and first located near the present site of Butler Borough; not long afterward, he removed to a farm in Center Township. He was among the first to erect distilleries once so common in the county.

It was Adam Shanor from Virginia who was the pioneer of the family in Butler County, PA.
