With two brothers, he was among the Mennonite immigrants from the Palatinate to Pennsylvania. He and his brother Joseph settled in Lancaster County (the other brother having settled in Virginia about 1770), living for some years in Warwick township, and later in life removed to Derry, later Conewago, township, Dauphin County, where he owned a farm situated partly in Lancaster and partly in Dauphin counties. He was the ancestor of the Strite family of Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and Washington County, Maryland.
