The Shaw family of Massachusetts was founded in America by Ichabod Shaw in 1670.

He was born in England, and came to America in 1670, with his wife and five children, settling in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Two more children were born there. He served in King Philip's War in which he lost his life, shot dead at his own door, in the early morning by an Indian.
