General Notes: Husband - Albert Martin Zundel

Orphaned very early, he lived among relatives. He attended the Harrold and Thomas schools, and secured a good common school education. He accompanied his mother and step-father to Clarion County, Pennsylvania, but soon returned to Westmoreland County. He was a shoemaker by trade, but also a farmer. He served as township assessor and collector of taxes. He was for several terms supervisor of public roads, and had an extensive acquaintance in the county. He was one of the first volunteers in the Union cause in the war of the Rebellion, having enlisted in the three months service. He was a member of Captain George A. Cribbs Post, No. 276, G. A. R.; also of Westmoreland Lodge, No. 840, I. O. O. F. He served for years as deacon, elder, trustee and secretary of the Old Zion Lutheran church.
