General Notes: Husband - Edward Shippen


He studied law under Tench Francis, Esq., and in 1791 was appointed one of the judges of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and in 1799 was appointed chief justice of the Supreme Court of the state.

One of his daughters became the wife of Benedict Arnold.
