General Notes: Husband - Samuel Shira

He was born in 1834. [TCHBC, 1086]
He was born on the homestead farm in Washington township, Butler County, PA. He received a common school education, was reared a farmer, and became the owner of 125 acres of well improved land. He had a fine oil development on his farm, one of the most productive wells in the Washington field being struck there in 1893; eventually there were nine oil wells and one gas well. Politically, he was a stanch Republican, and served in most of the local offices of his township. He and his family were members of the United Presbyterian church.
