General Notes: Husband - Edward Shoup


He and his brother Charles were associated in business as drilling contractors and oil producers, following drilling beginning in 1875. They sank about one hundred and fifty wells in Sandy Creek Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, and a town which grew up around their operations was named Shouptown in their honor.
