General Notes: Husband - Lodowyck Smith


He was an extensive land owner of South Strabane township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, who came originally from Germany.

The name of Lodowyck Smith does not appear in the survey books of Washington County, but he was located in South Strabane township, on land adjoining Alexander Kerr, in March, 1786. In 1796 he opened a tavern on the farm, which was kept by him till his death. His will bears date in 1816, by which he left his wife the mansion house and one hundred acres during her life, and to his children each a portion of the tract. He had seven daughters and two sons
