General Notes: Husband - James Hair Van Voorhis

In his earlier days he was given a farm in Carroll township by his father. He sold his farm to William Devore and moved into Monongahela City about the year 1870 or '71. He built a fine brick house on Main street, later owned by Mrs. Nathan Cleaver. In April, 1876, he, with his family, moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he engaged in wool growing and silver mining. Later he was a resident of North Dakota, near Cooperstown, Griggs County, where he was engaged in farming.

For many years he was connected with the Presbyterian Church of Monongahela City, Pennsylvania, of which he was ordained an Elder January 21, 1872.
