General Notes: Husband - Samuel Smith

The first of this Smith family of whom there is any record, was one Samuel Smith, of German parentage, who was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he grew to manhood and married. He and his wife came in 1780 to Washington County, settling in East Pike Run township, where they purchased land, but had previously made a stay in Fayette County, and as pioneers there took up a large tract of land.
He was a farmer and miller, and conducted flour, saw and oil mills. For many years he served as a justice of the peace.
