General Notes: Husband - Christian Stauffer

The founder of the family in America, he emigrated to the United States from the Palatinate on the Rhine in 1749, bringing with him his wife and two sons, and settled in East Lampeter township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He purchased a tract of land which he cultivated as a farm and which was still in the possession of one of the members of the family a century and a half later. There were many interesting relics to be seen at this old homestead, among them being an old German Bible. The last will and testament of Christian Stauffer being written in High Dutch cannot be recorded, but endorsed thereon is the following: 'A copy of the deed is given in the survey of Conestoga Manor, 1729. Sixteen thousand acres.' James Logan is cited as holding seven hundred acres after-wards held by Christian Stauffer.
