He died when only twenty-seven years old, he and four or five other members of the family being victims of cholera.

He bought a tract of eighty acres and started life ambitiously, not only cultivating his land but also engaging in the manufacture of boots there, giving employment to a number of men. Like his father he was a Whig and a Baptist.

She was born near Poland, Mahoning County, Ohio, her father's property lying on the line between Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and Mahoning County, Ohio, about half in each county.
