General Notes: Husband - James Stewart


He was a native of the Tuscorora valley, and came to Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1818. He was a tailor by trade and managed a shop for some time in Indiana, as well as "kept" the jail. In 1838, he removed to Mechanicsburg and pursued his calling for some years. He was justice of the peace for twenty years. In 1837, he made the first improvement at Stewartsville, and in 1844, removed to his son's, M. L. Stewart's, location at that point, where he died.
