The immigrant ancestor of the Stillman family in Pennsylvania was George Stillman, who came to Massachusetts in the year 1680, from Steeple Aspen, England. After reaching America he became a Seventh Day Baptist, having been a member of the established church while in England. His descendants with few exceptions clung to the faith of their fathers. ¹
