He was reared on the farm and always followed farming and dairying. He received his education at the academy at Prospect, Pennsylvania; took a short course in dairying and a course in agriculture at State College, Center County, and he followed farming along scientific lines. He was a member of the U. P. Church at Holyoke, Pennsylvania.
