Henry J. Wertman passed away at the home of his son, C. E. Wertman, Gilfillan Street Sunday morning at seven o'clock following a long illness of cancer resulting from an ulcerated tooth. He was born near Shenango, Mercer County, March 22, 1860, and was 48 years of age. Mr. Wertman was twice married, his first wife being Miss Beattie of Galloway, whose mother still survives and makes her home with her grandchildren of whom there are four, two sons and two daughters, all of Rocky Grove, Mrs. Wertman having passed away sixteen years ago. Mr. Wertman's second wife survives him. The deceased was a driller and contrator and has been in almost every section where oil and gas is found, but finally coming back to be with his family and friends for a number of years. He made his home on the Galloway farm and is well remembered by many of his neighbors. Funeral services will be held at the home at 8:00 P. M. tomorrow (Tuesday). Interment in Franklin Cemetery.
