In 1815, the whole Sutton family removed from the forks of the Monongahela and Youghiogheny Rivers to a point in Butler County, Pennsylvania, about six miles south of the town of Butler. In 1829 he removed to Clay Township.
He was the father of seven children, of whom four were living in 1883.
