He was born in 1866. [ZF, 166]
He was educated in the common schools of Mercer, PA, and Mt. Pleasant college. In 1886 he studied dentistry with Dr. I. S. Waugaman, of Greensburg, PA, attended lectures at the Pennsylvania Dental college at Phila­delphia, in 1887 and 1888, and was graduated March 1, 1889, from that institution, which was well and favorably known both in the United States and Europe. On April 1, 1889, he opened an office in Greensburg and entered into the practice of his profession. He was a republican but took no part in politics. [BHCWC 1890, 184]
