General Notes: Husband - George Tarr

He was born in the eastern part of Pennsylvania. His parents emigrated from Germany. He settled in Venango County, Pennsylvania, in about 1800, and commenced clearing away the forest and improving a farm. His first building was a small log cabin in which he lived for nearly forty years. He then purchased land on the road and erected a more commodious and neater house, in which he resided until his death. When Mr. Tarr first came to the place, things were very scarce and provisions for the sustenance of his family were hard to obtain. At one time they were compelled to take up the potatoes they had planted and eat them, to keep them from suffering. He owned at one time, over one thousand acres of land. They had a family of eight children. Farming was his vocation.

Besides five sons, he and his wife had three daughters, two of whom died young.
