General Notes: Husband - John Thomas

---

He was born in Hempfield township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, west of Greensburg. In early life he removed west but was compelled to leave the western country on account of ague. He returned to his native county and engaged in farming during the rest of his life. He was an old-line whig and republican, and a member of the Reformed church.

He and his wife had six sons and two daughters; of whom six were living in 1890. At his death, he had six children, twenty-four grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren living.
