General Notes: Husband - Hugh Thompson

---

He came to Rayne township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1796. There were then no settlers from that point as far north as Port Barnett. The Indians were numerous and peaceful, and Mr. Thompson would exchange flour and provisions for their skins and furs; the latter he would pack to Bedford or Chambersburg, and bring back commodities that were necessities in the settlement.
