He died in an Army hospital near Washington D. C., at the age of 25 years, 7 months, and 14 days. He was brought home and he and his mother were both buried on the second day of May 1863.

Obit: Parker Beaty died (of measles) in a hospital near Washington, D. C., April 23, 1863, aged 25 years, 7 mos., and 14 days. When a call was first made for volunteers to defend the country he did not deem it his duty to go, as he was the only son that was at home with his aged parents, and they wishing him to stay with them and manage their farm. But when the 9 months men were drafted he was included in the draft and went and remained out until his death. He had never made a profession of religion but was always friendly to religious interests. His friends have not been able to learn anything about the state of his mind in his last moments, as he did not enjoy his reason for a day or two before he died. But as his sickness was protracted they have hope that he sought a preparation for death. He was brought home and he and his mother were both buried on the 2nd day of May. Thus in a little over 6 months this family has been bereft of father, mother, and youngest brother.
