General Notes: Husband - George L. Wigle

He was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he spent thirty-two years as a mill operator. In 1863 he enlisted for service in the Civil War in the United States Signal Corps, and after seeing considerable active service was honorably discharged August 12, 1865. He lived some time in Armstrong County and erected three houses in Apollo. In 1892 he returned to Westmoreland County, settling in Hyde Park, where he built a home and worked as a mill operator until 1901, in which year he took up the foundry business. In 1903, he bought his father's farm in Washington township, consisting of one hundred and nine acres.
He served at least two terms as justice of the peace, and was president of the borough council. He was vice-president of the committee that in 1898 inaugurated the borough of Hyde Park, and served as president of the school board. He was a member of the Lutheran church, in which he served as elder, deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school. When the Lutheran church edifice was erected in 1890 he was chairman of the building committee.
