General Notes: Husband - John J. Turner

After he became a young man he followed threshing as an occupation. Threshing was then done late in the fall and continuing nearly through the winter. During the summer he worked on his father's farm. On the 6th or 7th of Aug. 1844, he was threshing for a neighbor. They had to carry the wheat up a ladder in sacks. John was carrying a sack up the ladder and when part way up the ladder suddenly broke prostrating him to the ground with his heavy load. He died on the 12th, from the results of the fall. He was laid to rest beside his sister, Esther. He was engaged, and would soon have been married to an estimable young lady had not his untimely death prevented.
