General Notes: Husband - Abner Updegraff

He was a native of the eastern part of Pennsylvania, and removed to Fairfield township, Westmoreland County, when a small child. His father died while on the journey, and his mother with her five children were left alone to make for themselves a home in an uncultivated wilderness. Early in life Abner Updegraff learned the trade of machinist, and later manufactured edged tools in Pennsylvania, from which he derived a comfortable livelihood.
