He was born near Rancocas Creek, on the Delaware River, in New Jersey. [HWC 1882, 696]

He was born on Long Island. In 1785 he came with his parents to Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he spent his entire life, passing away at the age of eighty-six years. [TCHWWC, 1220]
