The progenitor of the White family in America came, and settled in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. The great-grandfather, John White, moved to Culbertson's Row, Greene Township, Franklin County, and there farmed and died. He reared a large family.

He was a farmer on the farm on which his father lived and died.
