General Notes: Husband - Capt. Nicholas Beckwith


He lived in McConnellsburg, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, in the early part of the nineteenth century, and was a man of prominence and influence in that section of the country. At the beginning of the War of 1812 he raised a company of volunteer riflemen which was made a part of the Fifth Battalion, Pennsylvania Militia, Major D. Nelson commanding, and served under Brigadier-General Cook at Fort Niagara. It was in active service from October 12, 1812, until April 2, 1813.
