This family was of German descent. He was reared and married in Centre County, Pennsylvania, and about 1839 removed to Clearfield County, purchasing land and developing a farm in Jordan township. There he made a good home and spent his remaining days, his death occurring when he was eighty-one years of age. He and his family were members of the Lutheran Church.
