Miss Beichner was retired nurse
Miss Mary E. Beichner, 71, of 302 15th St., a native of Emlenton, died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Franklin Hospital.
Born at Emlenton Feb 2, 1898, she was a daughter of Peter and Matilda Reiser Beichner.
Miss Beichner was a graduate of the West Penn Hospital School of Nursing and retired in 1967 after a professional career that spanned nearly half a century.
She served as a U.S. Army Nurse from 1942 to 1945 and was assigned to the European Theater of Operations. For many years, she was a staff nurse at the DeShong Veterans Administration Hospital in Butler.
Miss Beichner was a member of the West Penn Nurses Alumnae Association, the Welcome Wagon Lunch Bunch, and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Following her retirement, she made her home with a niece, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Margaret) McCoy in Franklin).
She attended St. Patrick's Church while a resident of Franklin and took part in the Rosary-Altar Society of the parish.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Mrs. McCoy; one sister, Mrs. Donald (Margaret) Douglas of Cypress, Calif. and two brothers, Lawrence Beichner of Franklin and Francis Beichner, a resident Lilly, Pa.
A brother, William, and one sister, Mrs. Helen DeLong, preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Burger-Gardinier Funeral Home from 7 to 9 pm. this evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A vigil service will be conducted at 8 p.m. this evening.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. John Snyder, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be at the Emlenton Cemetery.
