General Notes: Husband - John K. Beidler

---

He enlisted, in August, 1862, in Company F, Seventeenth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry; was assigned to the Army of the Potomac under Gen. Hooker, and took part in many of the historic engagements of the Virginia campaigns. He received an honorable discharge in 1863, on account of disabilities received in the service.
In 1866 Mr. Beidler established, and for three years carried on, a general store at Sterrett's Gap, Perry County; three years conducted business in Plainfield, Cumberland County; then for three years at West Hill, and then purchased property at Oakville and built a fine store building. In the autumn of 1877 he again located at West Hill.
Mr. Beidler owned a fine business property in Plainfield and carried a complete stock of dry goods, groceries, hats, caps, boots, shoes, hardware, notions, and a full line of general merchandise.
Personally Mr. Beidler was a man of portly build and fine physique; genial and social in his disposition.
