General Notes: Husband - Otis Young

He received his early education in the Cleveland high schools, and later attended the Brooks Military Academy at Cleveland, Ohio, where he won high distinction as a scholar, receiving second honors. Upon leaving school he went into his father's office, and, upon the death of the latter, succeeded to the business as a partner to his stepmother. In 1895 they sold out and retired to the beautiful home place in Garland, which was the family home for six generations. The house was remodeled and the grounds beautified, and there they have lived in contentment. He was a farmer, and although he had no agricultural training, he has through his natural business ability, and the employment of scientific methods (acquired by persistent study), accomplished results that have surprised the older and more experienced farmers.
He and his step-mother, Mrs. Young, were extensive travelers and visited almost every point of interest in the United States, and also completed an extended tour in Egypt and to other points of interest in the Old World.
