He graduated at Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania, prior to reading medicine in the office of his father, Dr. J. L. Ziegler. In 1874, he took his degree in medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and afterwards became associated with his father. Several years later he removed to Philadelphia, and became chief of the clinic for diseases of the ear at the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was formerly a member of the Lancaster County Medical Society.
