In the spring of 1759, the family farm was divided between Jacob and his brother, Michael; the other children had released their shares. He sold his interest in the farm in 1773 to his brother, Johannes, and moved to Washington County, Maryland, between Hagerstown and Frederick, near where his brother Peter had located.
