George K. Bell
George K. Bell, 83, of Kennerdell RD 2, a resident there the past 37 years, died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday in the Grove City Hospital after a sudden illness. He was admited there Monday.
He was born in Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, Sept. 19, 1898, a son of J. L. and Elizabeth King Bell.
He attended Butler County schools and worked in the coal mines of Butler County and the limestone plant in Branchton.
Later he worked for Cooper Energies in Grove City, retiring from there in 1965.
Mr. Bell was also well-known for construction work in the county and he owned and operated his own sawmill for a number of years. He was also a part-time worker at Rankin Lumber in Clintonville.
He was a member of the Barkeyville Church of God, where he was on church council and was a deacon in the church.
He had a number of hobbies, including carpentry and fishing and he enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife.
His third wife is the former Kathleen Baker, whom he married Nov. 19, 1939, and she survives, along with three daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Virginia) Welton of Kennerdell RD 2; Mrs. Jack (Della) Clendenning of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Dorothy Doersch of Mercer; a son, Lewis Bell of Franklin, La.; two sisters, Mrs. William (Irene) Craig of Grove City and Mrs. Homer (Pearl) Baughman of Forestville; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One son, George, died in infancy, and also deceased are a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Lois) Hill; a brother, James; three sisters, Hazel Ritenour, Tillie Brandon and Cora Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, Clintonville. The Rev. Fred Bauer, pastor of the Barkeyville Church of God, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. William Rodahaver of the Hickory Grove Church of God. Interment will be in the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral: home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services for George K. Bell of Kennerdell RD 2, who died in the Grove City Hospital last Saturday, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, Clintonville.
The Rev. Fred Bauer, pastor of the Barkeyville Church of God, read the opening prayer, Psalms 23, "Amazing Grace" and "Footprints." The Rev. William Rodahaver of the Hickory Grove Church of God read Psalms 90 and other scripture passages.
Interment was in the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery and the pallbearers were Richard Welton, Richard Cook, DeWayne and Ronald Moore, John Davis and Al D'Amico.
Attending from out-of-town were Mrs. Irene Craig, Barbara Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Craig, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burk, Mrs. Greta Hoffman, Lewis Ritenour of Grove City; Mrs. Pearl Baughman and Mrs. Helen Osborne of Forestville; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ritenour, Mr. and Mrs. James Grossman of Harrisville; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Craig of Butler; Mrs. Nancy Roshon of Cincinnati; Mr. and Mrs. James Doersch, Mr. and Mrs. William Brown of Mercer; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker, Slippery Rock; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clendenning, Pittsburgh.
